There's plenty that has to be figured out.

The past few days and weeks have been ugly for the Philadelphia Eagles, with Lane Johnson retiring and Cam Jurgens moving on.

Many Eagles fans have been happy with the Jurgens trade, but moving on from an above-average offensive lineman is never easy, even if it doesn't seem like the wrong idea.

As for the Johnson aspect, there really isn't much the Eagles can do in that regard, as the longtime veteran and all-time Eagles great cited mental health problems as his reason for his retirement.

All anybody can do is wish him well and hope things improve for a great player and an even better guy off the field.

As for what the Eagles look like, saying this season hasn't gone as planned would be putting it lightly.

Some concerns entering the season suggested things wouldn't improve much, and the Eagles haven't given us much reason to believe they're better than they were a season ago. However, according to the latest from Howie Roseman, the locker room still believes they can win.

“Nothing has changed in terms of our goals,” Eagles general manager Roseman said Wednesday, per The Athletic. “We’re trying to win this year. … My job is to look at how we can have sustained success for a long period of time, and you don’t get many opportunities to get second-round picks in trades and get flexibility.”

“When you lose a player like that, you’re not getting better,” Roseman said, while expressing appreciation for Johnson’s career. But the impetus for the Jurgens deal had more to do with the trade’s value than the team’s perceived trajectory."

Roseman has to come out and say he still believes his team can win at a high level, because Philadelphia has done that over the past couple of seasons, though it's still fair to suggest this team just isn't as good as it typically is.

Whether that changes with additions or other guys stepping up remains to be seen, but the Eagles definitely need to get something going here.

At 2-2 and not an easy schedule over the next few weeks, there's a lot that can happen.
