They should be willing to move decent assets, too.
It feels like a matter of time before the Philadelphia Eagles decide what they want to do at this year's NFL trade deadline. With Howie Roseman making decisions over the next couple of weeks, he'll face difficult ones from top to bottom.
Roseman finds himself in a more interesting position than he has been in much of his career, especially after Philadelphia lost Jalen Hurts to a season-ending blood clot diagnosis.
The interesting part is that Philadelphia is in a position to move on from guys, but it's not crazy to suggest it believes it can win the NFC East because of how bad the division is.
With the New York Giants in first place and missing their starting quarterback, Jaxson Dart, for the remainder of the regular season, at the very least, one would think Philadelphia has to feel somewhat confident about winning games.
The only question now is whether Roseman thinks he needs to buy, or is content to hold on to his current roster and go to war with them.
If not, the Eagles have multiple players they could deal, including Landon Dickerson. The Athletic recently suggested Dickerson could be dealt and named the Green Bay Packers as a landing spot.
“Dickerson played through a bone bruise in his right knee in Week 1 and struggled. He was subsequently placed on injured reserve. While Dickerson was sidelined, right tackle Lane Johnson retired, and interior offensive lineman Cam Jurgens was traded to the Ravens.
“When asked if he thinks the Eagles still view him as their left guard of the future, Dickerson replied, 'Do they have a media day for Nick and Howie? You can ask them that.’ Dickerson was referencing coach Nick Sirianni and GM Howie Roseman. Dickerson has battled numerous injuries in his career. When he is somewhere close to healthy, though, he is a productive player. That was evident as recently as the Eagles’ playoff loss to the 49ers last season. The Eagles would take on $26.2 million in dead money in 2027 if they traded Dickerson before the deadline,” The Athletic wrote.
Similar to the Eagles, the Packers have been banged up this season. They've been able to win more games than Philadelphia, largely because Jordan Love is still playing at a somewhat high level despite the injuries he's dealing with on the offensive side of the football.
With Green Bay also getting healthier recently, and with expectations that Micah Parsons will return over the next month and Josh Jacobs will return from the NFL exempt list, there's reason to believe it can be one of the better teams in the NFL.
Dickerson would only add to that, as one of their biggest needs is offensive line help.
