There have been a lot of questions about what the Philadelphia Eagles are going to do with star wide receiver AJ Brown. It's almost impossible to get a feel for what Philadelphia plans to do, though it seems more likely than not that he won't be on the roster in the 2026-27 season.
There isn't a right or wrong answer about what the Eagles can do, either. Ultimately, we need to see a lot of it play out before we can make a judgment about what they should or shouldn't do. Everybody already knows the type of player Brown is on the offensive side of the football, and that's one of the best players in the NFL.
However, when speaking about it, it seems more likely than not that he'll return. Despite everybody assuming that he won't be on the roster in the future, general manager Howie Roseman continues to state the obvious.
"What do you think the odds are that I'm answering this question any different than I've answered anywhere else? Like really, do you think that's 50%? Do you think that's 75%?" Roseman said, per NBC. "A.J. Brown is an Eagle.”
The question has continued to come up due to what the Eagles have done during the offseason.
With their latest addition, a trade with the Green Bay Packers for Dontayvion Wicks, it doesn't feel like there's much of a need for guys like Brown on the roster right now. Not that Wicks is anywhere near the type of player that Brown is, but he's a wide receiver, and the Eagles have added multiple this offseason.
Despite that, Roseman stated that he can't assume what the team is going to look like in the future, and he's focused on getting the team better, even if it might not be a need at the moment.
"The biggest mistake we can make is assuming we know what the team is going to look like a year from now, two years from now, and missing out on a player because we have a perceived need and then we don't fill the need because the player's not good enough," he said. "I think that's probably a long-winded way to say that nothing that we've done up until this point will affect the evaluations we have on draft day."
