Jaelan Phillips made his Eagles debut on Monday Night Football against the Packers and it couldn't have gone any better.
Not only did the Eagles beat the Packers to improve to 7-2 on the season, but Phillips also racked up seven pressures, six tackles, two quarterback hits and a fumble recovery.
"This is the first time in a while that I got a little emotional before a game. This stage -- it's my first time in Lambeau -- and walking out of that tunnel, it doesn't get better than that," Phillips said. "I felt amazing energy from the guys. There is just an air of confidence, and everybody played together. We had a great game, obviously, super gritty."
The Eagles acquired Phillips from the Dolphins at the NFL trade deadline. Phillips went from one of the worst teams in the NFL to the defending Super Bowl champions.
“I thought I was excited on Day One, but talk to me now. This is literally the greatest thing that’s happened to me in my whole life, probably,” Phillips said. “It’s just awesome. The guys are awesome.
"Everybody’s been super welcoming. I love the environment, I love the vibe here. The city of Philly has given me a very warm welcome. I got about 20 times the amount of Instagram likes that I ever got on a post before, from Philly fans, so shout out to them. It’s been great so far, getting out there practicing. I love the weather here, I love the locker room. Everything’s awesome.”
In nine games for the Dolphins this season, Phillips racked up 3.0 sacks, 15 solo tackles, three tackles for loss and seven quarterback hits.
He showed in his Eagles debut that he's going to be a major player for Philadelphia moving forward.
"This whole week, we've been telling him we trust him. When we get out there, we're all as one," Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter said. "He came out, showed out. He got the fumble, he got some pressures, and he had a hell of a game."
The Eagles face the Lions next week in what could be a NFC Championship Game preview. Let's see how Phillips does in his first game in Philadelphia in front of Eagles fans.
