Jason Kelce isn’t playing for the Philadelphia Eagles anymore, and probably never had much of a say in who plays, but that doesn’t mean he’s stopped noticing what the team can do better to be what it wants to be.

Appearing on the “94WIP Morning Show,” Kelce questioned why Tank Bigsby hasn’t played much more this year, mainly due to how the running back has played when he’s gotten the opportunity.

“I hope to see a pretty decent usage of Tank at this point,” Kelce said, per NJ.com. “How many times does a guy have to flash to be like, ‘Why are we not giving this guy more?’ That’s the reality of it.”

Bigsby has shown enough on limited touches that it’s fair to wonder why his role hasn’t increased. When he’s been on the field, and given the struggles Saquon Barkley has dealt with, it feels like a move they should make.

Kelce also added things about Barkley, explaining why Bigsby’s style fits so well next to him.

“It pairs up so well with what Saquon does,” Kelce said. “Saquon is so good at reading the zone plays, hitting them front side and hitting them back side. Tank isn’t reading anything, I’m convinced. I think he just gets the ball and shoom right up there. When you’re a linebacker, unless you fill that hole now on a guy like that, he’s going to get four or five yards. You got to come down and fill your gap now and then you go back to Saquon and that guy gets used to that tempo.”

Defenses would have to prepare more for the Eagles’ offense, an area that’s struggled at times this year.

Barkley is at his best when he’s healthy, so that’s another benefit to consider.

While Kelce’s voice carries weight in Philadelphia, it’s unlikely that this will change any of its plans.

Whether that usage changes remains to be seen, but these comments were more than far from Kelce after what we’ve seen from the entire offensive unit this year. Sometimes, an offense needs a new look, and Bigsby could give them that.
