The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to be one of the better teams in the NFL once again next season, and there's hope that Saquon Barkley can return to form.
If Barkley isn't the guy that the Eagles need him to be, there's a very good chance that things are going to look a lot different than they have. Even last season, the former Penn State star struggled, as he wasn't the same caliber of player he typically was.
At the same time, the Eagles are very hopeful that he's going to be the superstar that everybody knows he can be.
That includes offensive lineman Lane Johnson, who had a lot to say about how this offensive scheme is going to play in his favor.
"The more productive we are in the run game and stuff feeds off that, we'll see the Saquon from two years ago. We'll see the big plays, we'll see him flex wide at wide receiver, we'll see him in the screen game,” he said, per Zach Berman.
According to another writer, the belief is that Sean Mannion's offense will favor Barkley.
There were times last year when Kevin Patullo's offense didn't favor anybody, though there's obviously hope now that things have completely changed on the offensive side.
If Barkley and the other guys on the offense can get back up to speed as quickly as they did in 2024, there's a very good chance we're looking at arguably the best team in the NFL once again.
“Mannion’s scheme will be significant, obviously, but having Johnson and the rest of the offensive line healthy this year would also set the stage for Barkley to dominate defenses the way he did on his way to 2,283 yards from scrimmage in 2024. That season ended in a Super Bowl win and having everything come together offensively should make the Eagles a threat to repeat that feat as well,” Josh Alper wrote.
The offensive line part is something to keep an eye on. The Eagles' offense last season wasn't great, but there were more factors than just Patullo, and injuries were one of them.
