The 2026 NFL season could be Jalen Hurts last campaign with the Philadelphia Eagles.
An NFL exec from the AFC can see the Philadelphia Eagles moving on from Jalen Hurts next offseason if the offense struggles in 2026, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
The Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023. However, there is little guaranteed money left on Hurts' deal after the 2026 season.
"Hurts I could see," said an AFC exec when asked whether Philly could look to move him this offseason if the offense struggles. "Polarizing player, and as his running ability starts to decline, his value will decline, too. And [Eagles general manager Howie Roseman] will always be proactive with finding solutions."
Hurts finished the 2025 season with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He completed 64.8% of his passes.
The Eagles won the NFC East again. However, they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2026 playoffs' wild-card round.
It will be fascinating to see how Hurts and the Eagles perform next season. Hurts is under major pressure to play well despite winning Super Bowl LIX MVP.
Hurts enters next season with 17,891 passing yards, 110 passing touchdowns, 3,554 rushing yards and 63 rushing touchdowns in his career. He's made the Pro Bowl three times.
"I think he's going to play well," an NFC personnel evaluator said. "He's had so many different coordinators over the years that he'll be able to adapt to the changes, and if the running game returns to form, [Hurts] throws it well over the top."
Hurts and new Eagles OC Sean Mannion "have hit it off," per Fowler. This is great news for the Eagles since Hurts didn't have a good relationship with Kevin Patullo.
Fowler also reported that Hurts has been "throwing offsite" with some Eagles receivers. That group doesn't include A.J. Brown, who is expected to get traded to the New England Patriots in June.
