It's tough to argue.
We can give credit to Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni for admitting his end-of-game plan against the Jacksonville Jaguars wasn't ideal.
Sirianni not only had a chance to go downfield and kick a game-winning field goal, but he didn't even give the Jaguars a chance to return it. For whatever reason, that's what Sirianni decided, and it obviously wasn't the right call.
At the same time, he took the blame, and that's at least a better sign than saying others made those decisions.
He understands his team hasn't played good football to start this season, and if nothing changes over the next couple of weeks, there could be major changes. It almost feels like people in Philadelphia already want that to happen, as anything less than winning at a high level is typically going to be viewed as a major problem.
The Eagles, 2-3, find themselves in a position that nobody really expected entering the season.
Over the past few years, this organization has won at a high level, so dropping three games in a row is a discouraging sign.
One issue is that things won't get much easier over the next couple of weeks, as the Eagles will take on the Carolina Panthers before playing three NFC East teams.
One could argue that his end-game decisions make things even worse when you factor in what really happened and the remaining schedule.
"It takes a bad coach to be able do what he did at the end of the game, and that was take victory away from NFL players, like good people who are the least responsible on the roster, the lowest paid, to make a play that they weren't even supposed to make," Cris Carter said.
"They weren't supposed to have to make a tackle on that play. People say, 'Oh man, everybody's got a job to do.' Yes, but the head coach's job is to put those guys in a situation where they can be successful, and he didn't do that."
As Carter touched on here, a lot of this falls on Sirianni.
While I agree that guys need to eventually make plays, and some in Philadelphia haven't been able to do that to start the season, he needs to put his guys in a better position to succeed. While coaches make bad decisions, other teams that also have great players are going to take advantage of them. That was the case on Sunday in Week 5.
