Eventually, things will improve.
The Philadelphia Eagles had another disappointing showing on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Rams, and the offense again didn't play up to standard.
For an Eagles team expected to be one of the best in the NFL this season, questions remain about what the offense will look like. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the first four games of the season haven't answered those questions.
It's going to be interesting to see what can and will change over the next couple of weeks to months, but it doesn't really feel like things will get much better sooner rather than later.
Philadelphia has to improve on multiple levels if this offense is going to reach the heights everybody was hoping for, with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion taking over.
Mannion has said a lot of the right things throughout the first couple of months in Philadelphia, but it was fair to suggest there would be some issues on that side of the ball to start the year. At the very least, Mannion and the offense were going to take a couple of weeks to really get settled.
Factor that in now with some of the injuries the Eagles have dealt with, and it's not surprising to see why things have gone the way they have.
“I don’t think improvement always looks exactly how we want it to look,” coach Nick Sirianni said. “Improvement’s not, ‘Hey, it’s (linear).’ Sometimes it’s going to feel like you’re here, you’re here, you’re all over the place. I know that all we’ve got to do is continue to put the right work in…
“I’ve got a ton of confidence in Sean, and he’s going to wear a lot of this,” Sirianni said. “There’s no doubt. I’m going to wear a lot of this. Our offense is going to wear a lot of this. You win together, you lose together.”
The unfortunate part for Philadelphia right now is that it still hasn't been able to win games, even though the offense isn't looking great.
A year ago, while the Eagles lost some games they shouldn't have, they were still winning at a very high level. At 2-2 right now, that hasn't been the case.
Mannion and the offense still have some time to figure things out, but with the injuries they're currently dealing with and everything else, it feels like a matter of time before something has to change.
