A 24-year-old person has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in connection with an attempted break-in at the home of Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and two other burglaries.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in connection with an attempted break-in at the home of Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley and two other burglaries.
The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced on Wednesday (9/2) that the Lower Merion Police Department arrested Philadelphia resident Jabir Parker with assistance from FBI SWAT, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Philadelphia Police Department and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.
Parker was charged with conspiracy to burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, criminal use of a communications facility and related crimes.
The news release from the Montgomery County DA doesn't identify Barkley's residence as the location of Parker's attempted burglary. However, multiple media outlets in Philadelphia, citing sources, reported that the residence in question belongs to Barkley and his family.
Parker is being held on $1 million bail. Additional suspects are being sought, according to authorities.
Barkley and his family were unharmed after the attempted burglary of their home, when they were inside the residence, on July 18. Parker is alleged to have burglarized two other residences and stolen items of jewelry valued at nearly $800,000, as well as a safe.
Barkley is entering his third season with the Eagles. He joined the franchise in 2024 after spending the first six years of his career with the New York Giants.
Barkley had 1,140 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns in 2025. The three-time Pro Bowler put up 2,005 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns in his first season with the Eagles in 2024.
Since 2024, Barkley ranks second in 100-plus-yard rushing games (14) behind Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry (17). Barkley helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs in his first season with the Birds.
Philadelphia hired Sean Mannion as its new offensive coordinator for the 2026 season. Barkley and Co. used training camp and the preseason to learn the new offense.
Barkley enters this season with 8,356 rushing yards and 55 rushing touchdowns in the regular season. He's one of the top players in the league.
The Eagles won the NFC East last season. However, they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round of the playoffs at home.
It will be fascinating to see how Philadelphia's offense performs under Mannion's play-calling. Barkley looked like the best player in the NFL during the 2024 season. He came back down to earth in 2025 in Kevin Patullo's system.
The Eagles open the 2026 season at home against the Washington Commanders.
