A.J. Brown has continued to be one of the most discussed names in trade conversations. While there has been no indication that the Philadelphia Eagles will move on from him, it seems very likely as of now.
However, a recent update suggested that several teams once viewed as potential landing spots may no longer be realistic options, which hurts this situation.
According to Albert Breer, a handful of teams previously mentioned in talks surrounding Brown have shifted their priorities elsewhere. That development could significantly hurt the market if the Eagles ever seriously considered moving their star receiver.
“Buffalo, having done the deal for [D.J. Moore], is no longer involved,” Breer wrote.
Buffalo had been viewed by some as an ideal landing spot for another top receiver, given that quarterback Josh Allen has been searching for a WR. However, after landing DJ Moore, the Bills seem to be comfortable with their current receiver core,
Breer also stated that the Los Angeles Chargers are focused on addressing different areas of their roster rather than making a splash at wide receiver.
“I don't think the Chargers are either, with their focus on the offensive line and the edge positions (with a big chunk of money/cap now gone to [Khalil Mack]),” Breer said.
Another AFC contender that had been linked to Brown is the Kansas City Chiefs, but Breer noted that their attention is currently focused on other roster needs.
“And ditto on the Chiefs, who are zeroed in on the running back spot, and have a desire to replenish the roster with the picks they got in the [Trent McDuffie] trade.”
Brown is one of the NFL’s most dominant receivers, known for his physical play, above-average speed, and ability to make big plays. Because of that, any trade involving him would be a game-changer for anyone.
For now, though, Philadelphia still appears positioned to keep its offensive core intact around quarterback Jalen Hurts until something happens. With several rumored suitors seemingly out of the mix, the chances of a blockbuster deal involving Brown may be smaller unless an unexpected team comes in as a serious threat.
