The Philadelphia Eagles could sign Zach Ertz.
The Philadelphia Eagles could sign TE Zach Ertz, according to EJ Smith of PHLY Sports.
Ertz appeared in 123 games with Philadelphia from 2013 to 2021.
"A Ertz reunion with the Philadelphia Eagles is on the table, according to league sources," Smith wrote. "Ertz is nearing the nine-month mark of recovery from a major knee injury and nothing is imminent, but Ertz would welcome a return and makes sense for the team."
A talented playmaker, Ertz played in 13 games for the Washington Commanders last season. He put up 50 catches for 504 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns before tearing his ACL.
Ertz, who won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles, has played for Philadelphia, the Arizona Cardinals and Washington. He has 825 receptions for 8,592 receiving yards and 57 receiving touchdowns in his career.
Ertz is second among active tight ends in receiving yards. Only Travis Kelce (13,002) has more.
Dallas Goedert is the Eagles' starting TE. It will be fascinating to see if Philadelphia signs Ertz to give QB Jalen Hurts another weapon.
A talented runner and thrower, Hurts finished the 2025 season with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He completed 64.8% of his passes.
The Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023. However, there is little guaranteed money left on Hurts' deal after the 2026 season.
Hurts enters this season with 17,891 passing yards, 110 passing touchdowns, 3,554 rushing yards and 63 rushing touchdowns in his career. He's made the Pro Bowl three times and won Super Bowl LIX MVP against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Eagles traded A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots this offseason. Sean Mannion is the new OC, replacing Kevin Patullo. He's a former NFL QB, so he's bonded well with Hurts.
Philadelphia begins the 2026 season against Washington. All eyes will be on Hurts and Mannion to see how they perform in their first real game together.
