This is a great first move of the offseason for Roseman and Philadelphia as they lock up one of the key pieces of their defense.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of an important offseason with many large decisions looming. Wide receiver AJ Brown is the largest domino yet to fall in the offseason, but there are many other players the Eagles have to make decisions on.

The Eagles specifically have some decisions to make on the defensive end of the football. They have some key free agents they'll have to make decisions on, like Reed Blankenship and Nakobe Dean, while also needing to make a choice on what to do with Jalen Carter, apparently.

It was revealed yesterday that Carter, despite being one of Philadelphia's core defensive pieces, could be a sneaky candidate to be traded, as he came up last year as available in conversations with Dallas.

With Carter entering the final year of his rookie contract, the Eagles will have to choose what they want to do with the two-time Pro Bowl selection. Meanwhile, also in the interior of the defensive line, the Eagles also needed to make a move on DT Jordan Davis, who's also been elite.

Today, the Eagles made their decision on what to do with Davis.

Eagles Extend Jordan Davis to 3-Year $78M Deal

Jordan Davis is one of the NFL's elite young defensive linemen in the game right now. Davis will be entering his 5th season with the Eagles next year, and he's been fantastic for them.

Last season, he registered 72 total tackles (5th on team) and 4.5 sacks (3rd on team). His rare blend of size at 340+ lbs and elite agility makes him one of the toughest and most imposing figures for offensive lines to gameplan for.

Davis was entering the final year of his contract, and the Eagles paid him big time. The 3-year $78 million contract makes Jordan Davis the highest-paid defensive tackle in the history of the NFL.

The deal includes a whopping $65 million in guaranteed money and will keep the dominant interior lineman in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.

Could this be a signal that the Eagles have chosen to move forward with Davis rather than Carter on the defensive line? To pay two interior linemen that sort of money would be a stretch, but you also have to lock up elite talent when you have it.
