While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman provided an update on the A.J. Brown trade rumors.
Roseman kept the same public stance regarding Brown despite recently trading for Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers.
"What do you think the odds are that I'm answering this question any different than I've answered anywhere else? Like really, do you think that's 50%? Do you think that's 75%?" Roseman said, via ESPN. "A.J. Brown is an Eagle."
The Eagles haven't been highly incentivized to move Brown right now because of money. A trade before June 1 would come with a 2026 cap hit of over $40 million, compared to less than $20 million if he's dealt after that date.
Brown and the Eagles agreed to a three-year, $96 million extension in April 2024. The Super Bowl champion has no guaranteed money on his current deal after 2026.
Brown had 78 catches for 1,003 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns last season. He and QB Jalen Hurts weren't on the same page and multiple reports have stated that the two stars are no longer close.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Brown has been with the Eagles since 2022. He has 339 receptions for 5,034 receiving yards and 32 receiving touchdowns in a Philadelphia uniform
"The biggest mistake we can make is assuming we know what the team is going to look like a year from now, two years from now, and missing out on a player because we have a perceived need and then we don't fill the need because the player's not good enough," Roseman said. "I think that's probably a long-winded way to say that nothing that we've done up until this point will affect the evaluations we have on draft day."
The Eagles' new OC is Sean Mannion. He's replacing Kevin Patullo, who was fired after just one season as OC.
Brown has 8,029 receiving yards and 56 receiving touchdowns in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and Eagles. It will be fascinating to see where he's playing next season. He's been heavily linked to the New England Patriots since Mike Vrabel coached Brown in Tennessee.
