This is a strong statement about Jalen Hurts.
Philadelphia Eagles insider Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice wrote a strong statement about star QB Jalen Hurts.
Kempski's message? "Doubt Jalen Hurts at your own risk."
"Jalen Hurts is a flawed quarterback, and his scabs get picked at both locally and nationally to an excessive degree at times, at least relative to other quarterbacks around the league," Kempski wrote. "And sometimes those criticisms are fair.
"But he is also a skilled quarterback, who, you know, has a Super Bowl ring, and almost two. He is an ultra-competitive athlete who has proven repeatedly that he can rise up when doubters begin to accumulate.
"In Philadelphia, in all sports (not just football), we have seen our fair share of players over the years who have been great during the regular season and then wilted in the playoffs. Hurts has played his best ball during two different playoff runs. There's ample evidence that it can happen again."
Hurts finished the 2025 season with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He completed 64.8% of his passes.
The Eagles won the NFC East again. However, they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2026 playoffs' wild-card round at home.
Hurts enters next season with 17,891 passing yards, 110 passing touchdowns, 3,554 rushing yards and 63 rushing touchdowns in his career. He's made the Pro Bowl three times and won Super Bowl LIX MVP.
The Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023. However, there is little guaranteed money left on Hurts' deal after the 2026 season.
Even though Hurts has a Super Bowl MVP, he's under pressure to play well in 2026. Let's see how he does with A.J. Brown gone.
"He is dedicated to winning and wants to do whatever it takes to win more than any quarterback that I've been around," Eagles QB coach Parks Frazier said about Hurts, via Eagles.com. "He is phenomenal in the room, asks really good questions. Always wanted more. He's a sponge so he's been great."
"Jalen's been awesome," new Eagles OC Sean Mannion said about Hurts. "I really think he can do anything we ask of him. He's accurate. He's a great athlete. He really attacks the fundamentals. That's what's been really fun to watch these last two weeks of Phase 2. He's always wanting more things to work on, wanting more things regarding fundamentals, timing, understanding the scheme. He's hungry for more. Those are the guys that are really fun to work with."
