Should the Philadelphia Eagles make this trade with the San Francisco 49ers?

The San Francisco 49ers eliminated the Philadelphia Eagles from the 2026 NFL playoffs, ending the Eagles' Super Bowl defense.

During the Eagles' wild-card round loss to the 49ers, Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni and WR A.J. Brown got into a heated sideline exchange. Brown had two drops, tying a career high, and declined to speak to the media postgame.

The Eagles could trade Brown this offseason and one NFL writer thinks the 49ers should trade for the Pro Bowler. Moe Moton of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between Philadelphia and San Francisco:

Philadelphia Eagles Get: 2026 2nd-round pick, 2026 5th-round pick, WR Brandon Aiyuk

San Francisco 49ers Get: WR A.J. Brown

Brown had 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in the 2025 regular season. He and QB Jalen Hurts weren't on the same page at all.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Brown has been with the Eagles since 2022. He has 339 receptions for 5,034 yards and 32 touchdowns in a Philadelphia uniform.

Aiyuk has appeared in 69 games with the 49ers. He has 294 receptions for 4,305 yards and 25 touchdowns.

At the 49ers' end-of-season press conference, general manager John Lynch told the media that the team would part ways with Aiyuk, who hasn't suited up since Week 7 of the 2024 season when he tore the ACL, MCL and meniscus in his right knee.

Brown isn't happy in Philadelphia and Aiyuk's days in San Francisco are done. Both players would benefit from a trade.

It will be intriguing to see if the Eagles trade Brown, who doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract. The Eagles would absorb a dead cap hit of over $40 million if they dealt Brown before June 1, compared with less than $20 million in dead cap if a trade is consummated after that date. The team acquiring Brown would be responsible for his $29 million salary in 2026 and around $4 million in guaranteed money in 2027, per ESPN.
