The Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos fell short of their Super Bowl aspirations last season.
Philadelphia lost in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs, while Denver lost in the AFC Championship Game.
We already saw the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans make a trade before the new league year starts on March 11. Could the Eagles and Broncos be next? It's possible.
NFL analyst Moe Moton of Bleacher Report believes the Eagles should trade A.J. Brown to the Broncos for Jonah Elliss and a 2026 second-round pick.
Brown had 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in the 2025 regular season. He and QB Jalen Hurts weren't on the same page at all.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Brown has been with the Eagles since 2022. He has 339 receptions for 5,034 yards and 32 touchdowns in a Philadelphia uniform.
It will be fascinating to see if the Eagles trade Brown, who doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract. The Eagles would absorb a dead cap hit of over $40 million if they dealt Brown before June 1, compared with less than $20 million in dead cap if a trade is consummated after that date.
The team acquiring Brown would be responsible for his $29 million salary in 2026 and around $4 million in guaranteed money in 2027, per ESPN.
During the Eagles' wild-card round loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Nick Sirianni and Brown got into a heated sideline exchange. The Eagles lost to the 49ers at home by a final score of 23-19. Brown had two drops, tying a career high, and declined to speak to the media postgame.
Brown finished the Eagles-49ers game with three catches for 25 yards on seven targets. Philadelphia fans booed him after his second drop in the fourth quarter.
During a media session with reporters at the NFL combine, Sirianni spoke about Brown's future with the Eagles.
"Yeah, my expectation is he wants to be here," Sirianni said. "And obviously you want good players like that in your building. As Howie said, it's hard to get good players in this league. A.J.'s a great player and A.J. is a good teammate and A.J. is a good person. Does he want to be here? Yes. Do I want him to be here? Yes.
"Will A.J. be here next season? I think we're still in a spot, like, I can't guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season. I'm thinking I'm going to be the coach next season, but you can't guarantee anything past tomorrow."
