Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni understands that the offensive side of the ball is an area that needs to be fixed if they want to be the team they’re looking to be next season.
If anything, Sirianni showed that by moving on from offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, a decision that was expected.
Speaking about his hope for the offense in 2026 and beyond, Sirianni made it clear that there isn’t one simple scheme he’s looking for. Instead, the focus is on fit and finding the right voices to help what the team already has.
“I'm looking to bring in the guy that's going to best help us do that,” Sirianni said, per NFL.com. “I think there are many different ways to be successful on offense. Everybody has different styles, everybody has different players and there's many different ways to be successful.”
Last season made a few things clear: when the offense was playing how it should’ve been, it looked as good as anyone in the league, but when it wasn’t, there was an argument that it was the worst in the NFL.
Was all of that on Patullo? Maybe not.
Sirianni admitted that he needs to be better as well.
“Yeah, I think that's really way (too) early,” Sirianni said. “Those decisions don't have to be made for a long time. … As the head coach, you always have to be oversight of everything. Again, this year, obviously, I got involved more in the offense as the end of the season came because that's what I needed to do as the head football coach there.”
It’s good to see that Sirianni isn’t saying that the offensive struggles weren’t just on one coach or player.
The Eagles don’t need a complete offensive teardown or anything like that, but they need to just be better.
Sirianni’s comments suggest the Eagles are open-minded heading into the offseason, whether that means tweaks to the coaching staff, which were already made, or maybe some moves to the players.
Ultimately, this isn’t about changing everything. The Eagles’ offense has a chance to be as good as any and I suspect it might be next season.
