The Philadelphia Eagles had a horrible offensive season and clearly need weapons on that side of the football heading into next year. CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell believes that it makes sense for them to add on that side of the football in the 2026 NFL Draft.
In a recent mock draft projection, Podell predicted that Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq would be selected by the Eagles at No. 23 overall, a move that would help Jalen Hurts and the rest of the pass offense.
Podell believes Sadiq is one of the most dynamic tight end prospects in the class, and there’s a strong argument that he’s the best tight end in this draft.
“The 2025 All-Big Ten First Team tight end led the nation in receiving touchdowns at the position with eight while primarily lining up on the line of scrimmage or in the slot. However, Oregon did give him some snaps on the outside and out of the backfield,” Podell wrote. “Sadiq is powerful on his release off the line of scrimmage, which allows him to get open on routes up the seam or on wheel routes out of the backfield. That additionally comes in handy as a blocker in the rung game. He’s also a weapon off a tight end screen as a receiver.”
His skill set should translate in Philadelphia’s offense, and with the possibility of Dallas Goedert leaving, it makes a pick like that much easier to justify.
Penn Live recently predicted that Goedert would get a one-year, $6 million deal, so it’s possible that Howie Roseman goes that route, given how cheap he’d be.
“Projected contract: 1 year, $6 million Thoughts: After restructuring to a $10 million deal last offseason and responding with a career-high 11 touchdowns, there’s a chance Goedert is able to secure a more lucrative contract this time around. But if that’s what it will cost to bring Goedert back, it’s a no-brainer. The 31-year-old has spent his entire career in Philadelphia, he’s consistently produced, and the Eagles don’t have a natural successor in place. It all depends on what the market is,” Johnny McGonigal wrote.
Only time will tell what the Eagles want to do, but it feels safe to say that they’ll either have Goedert or a rookie pass catcher playing tight end next season.
