Philadelphia Eagles Receive Ominous NFC East Warning cover image

The Philadelphia Eagles seemed prepared to cruise to an NFC East title, but that may no longer be the case.

Remember earlier this season when the NFC East appeared to be a complete mess outside of the Philadelphia Eagles? Well, times have changed.

After starting the year 4-0, the Eagles have played .500 ball over their last eight games and are sitting at 8-4 with five weeks left to play.

Suddenly, the Dallas Cowboys have surged to 6-5-1 and are nipping at Philadelphia's heels in the division, and if the Cowboys beat the Detroit Lions Thursday night, all bets are off.

Joe Giglio of 94 WIP stated earlier in the campaign that he felt the NFC East race was over, but now, he is having second thoughts.

While Giglio didn't go as far to say that he is reneging on his prediction, he certainly isn't quite as sure as he was several weeks ago.

"I'd be lying to you if I didn't say my confidence was shaken a little bit," Giglio said. "I have had shaken confidence the last two weeks."

The Cowboys rallied from a 21-point deficit to defeat the Eagles two weeks ago and then beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving for their third straight win.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia has lost back-to-back games, and there appears to be some internal strife within Philly's locker room.

The Eagles offense can't seem to get out of its own way, and while the defense has certainly shown flashes, it ranks just 25th in the NFL and was absolutely railroaded by the Chicago Bears last Friday.

"I know the odds are still in the Eagles' favor and they still have a great chance to finish this division and I still believe they will, but I'm not as close to confident or close to as confident as I was a month ago."

Philadelphia will face the Los Angeles Chargers on the road next Monday. It's possible Philly could catch a break with Justin Herbert's status up in the air after undergoing surgery on his left hand, but if he plays, the Eagles could be in some trouble.

Luckily, three of Philadelphia's last five games are against teams with losing records, featuring a meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders and a couple of matchups with the Washington Commanders.

But given how shaky the Eagles have looked for much of this season, nothing is a guarantee for them.
