The Philadelphia Eagles fired Kevin Patullo as OC and hired Sean Mannion.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been busy this offseason. After losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs, the Eagles fired Kevin Patullo as OC and hired Sean Mannion.

Mannion was the Green Bay Packers' quarterbacks coach in 2025. He appeared in 14 NFL games with the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings from 2015 to 2021.

Eagles superstar RB Saquon Barkley is looking forward to working with Mannion, who joined the Packers as an offensive assistant in 2024 and was promoted to QBs coach ahead of the 2025 season.

The Eagles have a lot of talented offensive players, headlined by QB Jalen Hurts, Barkley and WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. However, under Patullo, the offense was below average in 2025, which is why Patullo was fired after just one season as the OC.

In 2025 under Patullo, scoring dropped from 27.2 (ranked seventh) to 22.3 (19th) points per game; offensive efficiency dipped from fourth best in the league to 19th; and the rushing attack plummeted from 179 yards per game (2nd) to 116.9 (18th).

The Eagles won the Super Bowl last year with Kellen Moore calling plays. Mannion has to work well with Hurts, who finished with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in 2025. Hurts and Patullo didn't have a good relationship.

Barkley had only 1,140 rushing yards in 2025 after putting up 2,005 rushing yards in 2024. For the Eagles reach the promised land again, Mannion has to get Barkley more involved.

The good news for Barkley is that Lane Johnson will be back next season. Johnson, who missed the final eight games of the 2025 season and didn't play in the postseason, announced this week that he's not retiring.

Since the start of the 2016 season, the Eagles are 96-41-1 when Johnson starts. They're 15-28 when Johnson doesn't start.

Johnson is a six-time Pro Bowler, two-time first-team All-Pro and three-time second-team All-Pro. He will make the Hall of Fame one day.
