The Titans and Eagles will play in Week 2.
It's really interesting to see some of the comments that players, the media, and others have made about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Hurts, who has taken a lot of disrespect throughout his career for whatever reason, doesn't really seem to care too much about it. Instead of responding to the backlash or disrespect, however people want to put it, he's continued to come out and win games at a very high level.
That doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon, though remarks from others around the league keep coming up.
The latest was a Tennessee Titans star, whose team plays the Eagles on Sunday.
"We just need to make Jalen Hurts be a QB," Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons told reporters, per USA Today. "Stop his runs, make sure Hurts doesn't get out of the pocket, and make plays."
It's tough to get a feel for what Simmons meant here. While it sounds disrespectful at first glance, it doesn't really feel that way.
To me, this feels more like a comment showing that he respects Hurts a ton as a runner and understands that he has to take that aspect of his game away from him. When the Eagles are operating at their best on the offensive side of things, Hurts is doing many different things.
One of those things includes running the football at a ridiculously high level.
“I don’t pay attention to that stuff,” Jordan Mailata said on Thursday.
“That’s clickbait stuff. That’s what you guys get paid for … I only care about everyone in this locker room. This locker room is all I give a damn about it. I don’t care what you guys say about this locker room, I don’t care what any other locker room says about this locker room. This is my focus.”
Who knows what Simmons really meant by this? Of course, he's the only one who knows what he was really saying deep down. I'm taking it differently than others are, but that's because I think Simmons knows Hurts is good and just said something that was taken in the wrong context.
