The Philadelphia Eagles are coming into the 2026 NFL season with a new offensive coordinator in Sean Mannion after firing Kevin Patullo.
Their 2025 offense was incredibly lackluster despite the immense talent on the roster. While injuries and poor play from individuals certainly didn't help, the scheme and playcalling from Patullo were a huge reason why things went south in 2025.
While Eagles fans might be excited for Mannion's offense, ESPN's Bill Barnwell named Dallas Goedert as one player who might be wishing Patullo stayed in Philadelphia for one simple reason: his 11 touchdowns scored in 2025.
"The one player who might miss former Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo (now with the Dolphins) is Dallas Goedert," Barnwell writes. "A tight end who has often underperformed his touchdown expectation in the red zone, Goedert scored 11 times last season, including seven times from inside the 5-yard line..."
While the Eagles might not want Patullo in Philadelphia for the greater good of the offense, it is fair for Goedert to wish to repeat his own personal 2025 season production.
While his 591 yards weren't a record, as he had 830 during the 2021 season, his 11 touchdowns were more than double his previous career high of 5 back in 2019.
His touchdown scoring production in 2025 was one of the few bright spots for a struggling offense, as even though the tush-push wasn't working, the passing offense was mediocre at-best, and the running game regressed significantly, Goedert was a TD-scoring machine.
Barnwell naming Goedert as a player who might miss Patullo makes sense, strictly looking at it from a personal level.
But, Mannion might be just as good, if not better overall for Goedert than Patullo was. While it's not going to be a one-to-one comparable offense, Mannion's scheme will use tight ends plenty.
He comes from the Green Bay Packers, and Tucker Kraft's production in 2025 before his season-ending injury should be reason for Eagles fans and Goedert to be excited to see what the ninth-year TE can do for Philadelphia.
Goedert has been a fantastic tight end in his career, and he came back on a team-friendly contract this offseason. He might not reach 11 touchdowns, but there's zero reason why he shouldn't have the chance to have a great season in 2026 under Mannion.
But, if there had to be one player who would miss Patullo from the returning Eagles offensive pieces, it's likely Goedert. DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, Hurts, and the offensive line are probably not missing Patullo, and probably won't miss him this season.
