For the Philadelphia Eagles, there might not be a more important storyline heading into the 2026 season than how the new-look offense operates.
After a disastrous season with Kevin Patullo calling plays, the Eagles have brought in Sean Mannion and added a lot of new faces to the wide receiver room after losing A.J. Brown as well.
But, at the end of the day, as Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox writes, the Eagles' best-case scenario with this new-look offense revolves around Jalen Hurts and how the passing offense operates in 2026.
"If the changes lead to better chemistry in the passing game, the Eagles should be back to where it was a few years ago, and Philly should be back in the Super Bowl mix," Knox writes.
Philadelphia's offense changed drastically from last year's unit, both in terms of scheme and the players on the roster.
While Hurts, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Saquon Barkley, and the offensive line are the same, Brown is gone, and so is Jeff Stoutland.
Mannion is the new play caller and is bringing a new style of offense to Philadelphia, which will ask a lot more of Hurts this season.
But, the Eagles will also be relying a good bit on Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown, and Dontayvion Wicks to replace the production Brown is leaving behind.
In the "best case scenario" for this Eagles new-look offense, Knox believes Hurts and the offense "finds an early passing rhythm."
Hurts might not be the best quarterback in the NFL, but he's more than good enough to win a Super Bowl, and even rely on him in the big game.
But the scheme needs to be a lot better than it was last season, and Hurts also needs to build chemistry quickly with his new WRs.
A good indicator for how the offense is looking, beyond the running game, which is key for this team, will be to see how Hurts operates in this new-look offense.
If he thrives as a passer early in the season and early in games, then there should be immense confidence that this team can win another Super Bowl.
The defense should be elite once more, and if this offense is even just slightly above league-average, the Eagles could be one of the most threatening teams in the league for the 2026 Super Bowl title.
