Eagles Should Trade for Former First-Round WR To Bolster Offense

The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a 2-0 start to the 2026 season, but it hasn't been pretty in their first two wins. The Eagles have plenty to improve upon, including their passing game efficiency. 

Quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 14 of 25 passes (56 percent) for 203 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions in Week 1. He followed that up in Week 2 by completing 26 of 37 passes (70.3 percent) for 264 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. 

In Week 1, Hurts didn't throw an interception, but his completion percentage was low. It was the opposite in Week 2, as he threw two picks but had a completion percentage over 70 percent.

Philadelphia made a significant change to their wide receiver room this offseason by sending A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots. This made DeVonta Smith the top wideout for the Eagles and he has proven he can play well in that role with 10 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown in Week 2.

Outside of Smith, Philadelphia's wide receiver room is thin. Trade acquisition Dontayvion Wicks has been a solid contributor, with seven receptions for 147 yards and a touchdown through the first two weeks. 2026 first-round pick Makai Lemon has had little impact, with four receptions for nine yards.

Tight end Dallas Goedert is another key piece of the passing game, but he will miss multiple weeks while he recovers from a sprained MCL.

With the lack of depth, it would make a ton of sense for the Eagles to trade for another weapon. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has struggled mightily to start the season, with just one catch for 33 yards.

The Cardinals selected Harrison with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he hasn't lived up to the player he was at Ohio State.

In the first two seasons of his career, he has 103 receptions for 1,493 yards and 12 touchdowns. If Arizona makes him available, Howie Roseman and Philadelphia's front office should look to get a deal done, as he could revitalize his career in a new situation.

The Eagles could use another weapon as they look to contend for a Super Bowl in 2026, and Lemon doesn't appear ready to make a significant impact. If Harrison plays up to his potential, he could become a go-to target for Hurts in the passing game.

Philadelphia should explore the market for a receiver at the trade deadline, with Harrison as a name to monitor after a slow start to the 2026 season.
