The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0, but the offense has one explosive play over twenty yards in the pass game.

Jalen Hurts hit DeVonta Smith on that play of the game for a 28 yard gain against a Steve Spagnuolo all out blitz to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead.

AJ Brown has 6 catches for 35 yards with a long of eight yards through 2 games. Against the Chiefs, there were 2 missed big play opportunities to him.

On the first play of the game, offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo dialed up a 2 man combination with DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown off play action.

Smith ran a curl or sit route in the middle of the field at 15 yards, and Brown streaked down the seam.

Hurts faked the handoff to  Barkley and had to immediately step up to avoid a blitz off the corner.

Hurts shrugged off the cornerback, pulled his eyes down, and looked to take off to his left. Had he been able step up, shrug off the blitz, and keep his eyes downfield, he would have seen Brown streaking down the seam unrecognized.

That was missed opportunity number 1, but the corner blitz by Steve Spagnuolo certainly made it more difficult for Hurts to execute the throw to Brown.

The second missed opportunity was a little more egregious and would easily frustrate any wide receiver in the NFL .

Kevin Patullo had a great design to get the ball to Brown in space with 50 seconds left in the second quarter.

Brown was in the slot to the field to Jalen's left. After motioning across the formation wide left outside of Brown, Jahan Dotson would clear out his man and the deep safety to that side.

That left Brown isolated on rookie cornerback Nohl Williams in the slot with a 2 way option. Brown accelerated to the inside and across the field, quickly put on the brakes, and whipped it back to the outside.

He left the rookie in his tracks and was wide open with all sorts of space. But Hurts had his eyes downfield and did not see him in the left flat. After bouncing around in the pocket, Hurts hit Brown for no gain.

Jalen Hurts is 16-0 in his last sixteen games and has not turned the ball over through 2 games in 2025.

But when Kevin Patullo designs an easy completion and potential big play for AJ Brown that pops wide open, Hurts needs get the ball to his playmaker to take pressure off the rest of the offense.
