Eagles Defensive Coordinator with No Changes in Secondary

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys had a game plan to attack Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Adoree Jackson in the passing game and exposed a weakness in the Eagles' defense on opening night in the NFL.

Receiver CeeDee Lamb had seven catches for 110 yards and was running free all over the field in the first half.

Vic Fangio addressed the Eagles' secondary performance following their Week 1 win over the Cowboys.

He specifically commented on Jackson, who was primarily matched up against Lamb and allowed five receptions on seven targets for 103 yards overall (including three catches for 72 yards to Lamb). Fangio confirmed Jackson would remain the starter for now, saying, "Right now? Yes."

He emphasized the need for technical precision, noting, "He's just gotta make sure he's a master technician and not let his technique falter. [The Cowboys] have good receivers, so he has to be on point."

On the secondary as a whole, Fangio downplayed overreactions to a single game's passing defense struggles, stating, "Yeah, I mean no corner's going to pitch a shutout every game or during the whole run of the season. So yeah, they've got a good long leash, whoever’s out there, but we may play them all anyway."

Fangio made halftime adjustments to the defensive scheme, which limited Dak Prescott to 9-of-17 passing for 61 yards in the second half. Cooper DeJean was covering CeeDee Lamb man to man on the last play of the game on defense.

So nickel Cooper DeJean will will stay put for now but has the ability to move outside to corner or drop back to safety.

Safety Andrew Mukuba and nickel Mac McWilliams are rookies and need some time to develop, so it will be interesting to see how the secondary responds this week in a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs.
