The Atlanta Falcons are getting healthy.
The Atlanta Falcons are just a day away from an early season massive game in front of the whole country on Thursday Night Football, taking on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
In an 0-2 hole which already is statistically very difficult to reach the playoffs from, 0-3 to the postseason is almost statistically impossible with less than 3% of teams who started with three losses getting it done. The Falcons need a victory, and while the story of the week has of course been the return of Michael Penix Jr., he is not the only one getting back on the field.
Atlanta released its practice injury report this week, and the list of participants who are being upgraded to full practice is extremely encouraging.
Falcons Getting Numerous Injured Players Back on Field
Not only was Penix a full participant in Tuesday's practice, but so was Tua Tagovailoa which gives Atlanta much needed depth at thew quarterback position. Beyond just the most important position on the field though, it sounds like there's other great news.
Jawaan Taylor, who left the game against the Carolina Panthers with a rib issue, is fully practicing, as is Billy Bowman Jr. in his return from an Achilles injury last year. Bowman is very close to getting back on the field for games, and perhaps this could be the week he does just that.
Brian Robinson also practiced fully after getting a little banged up with an ankle issue, as did both LaCale London and Brandon Dorlus along the defensive line.
There was no one listed as a limited participant, and the only player who did not participate at all is defensive end Samson Ebukam. It's unclear the severity of Ebukam's injury, however the team not putting him on the injured reserve indicates it is probably more of a short-term issue.
After a very rough first two weeks of the year, it seems things are starting to come together at least in terms of having this roster at full strength. Injuries are inevitable in this league, but headed into a game where they almost have to win, the Falcons have the benefit of being at or as close to possible to full strength.
They are still going to have to get it done on the field, but they have a much better chance of doing just that with all of their guys ready to go, and it seems that is the case.
