The Atlanta Falcons did not get it done once again.

The Atlanta Falcons dropped another one on Sunday afternoon, failing to win at home for what would have been the first time this season and falling to the Chicago Bears 31-23 in what was largely a dominant Chicago performance.

Atlanta was completely dominated in just about every important facet of the game they needed to win including the turnover battle as well as time of possession, holding the ball for less than 20 minutes in this game. It was an uninspired performance from Michael Penix Jr., who looked ineffective and jumpy against a very blitz heavy defensive game plan from the Bears.

Caleb Williams was surgical in his return from injury, carving up the Falcons defense to the tune of over 300 yards through the air while completing 30 of his 36 passing attempts. In terms of where Atlanta goes from here, it does not get a whole lot easier moving forward with perhaps the best team in football coming to town next week.

Falcons Will Try to Earn First Home Victory Over Dominant 49ers

This is a brutal portion of the schedule for Atlanta, and it only gets harder next week with the San Francisco 49ers arriving to Mercedes-Benz Stadium as perhaps the biggest challenge the Falcons have faced yet. Notably, San Francisco does not play until Monday Night, giving the Falcons an extra day of preparation, however it's tough for anyone to feel good about the chances next week for Atlanta right now.

The Falcons have looked a whole lot closer the last two weeks to the team who got dominated the first two weeks of the year than they were the next two weeks in their only wins of the year so far.

On a day where both the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints won as well, things went about as poorly as they could have for Atlanta in their quest to get back on top of the NFC South. Kevin Stefanski clearly has his work cut out for him if he is going to get this team to the playoffs, and right now fans are understandably frustrated with the way this team is playing.

If they do not get it together and quickly, things have the potential to go off the rails and turn a tough year into an embarrassing one. It's time for Stefanski to pull the reigns up and figure it out, because it was another unacceptable performance on Sunday.
