The Atlanta Falcons are in the thick of training camp, and fans are ecstatic to see their stars get back on the field this season to try to compete for a division title.

Kevin Stefanski takes over a roster that is not as far away as the situations most new head coaches inherit, but every player on the field is going to have to raise their own personal level of play for the team to reach its potential. Atlanta affirmed their belief in the roster this offseason by handing out some big money extensions to guys like Drake London and Kyle Pitts, but just because both got paid does not mean they're made of the same stuff.

During an appearance on the Ross Tucker Podcast, Atlanta insider Matt Chernoff praised the mental motivation of London, but questioned how much Pitts actually wants to be great.

"It's so interesting how different [London and Pitts] are. Drake is a dog, he doesn't blow you away with speed...but you put a ball in the vicinity and [London] is gonna go get it," Chernoff said. "Kyle is the opposite. You wonder about Kyle's want, Kyle's heart, just that want to be great...I'm not a big Kyle Pitts believer, I think Kyle is a tease, I think he's inconsistent, and I don't know if he loves the game the way you're supposed to."

Whether or not this is fair criticism or not cannot be known, but Chernoff brings up undeniable points when he talks about inconsistency and not being able to string great years together rather than just showing flashes.

Clearly, this new coaching staff has seen and heard what they needed to in order to be comfortable handing Pitts the contract they did, however he is going to need to prove it on the field this season if he wants to silence all of his doubters.

Pitts is going to have an absolutely monster season if he wants to win over all of his doubters, but in reality, the only ones he should be concerned about winning over is this coaching staff. By all accounts, he has done everything asked of him this offseason and wants to get better, and perhaps that will show on the field this season.

Nobody will ever satisfy everyone, so Pitts must keep his head down and focus on what he needs to do this season to help this team win games. If he does that, he's gonna be just fine.
