The Atlanta Falcons have officially signed cornerback Avieon Terrell to his rookie contract after selecting him with the 48th overall pick in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Terrell will join his older brother, A.J. Terrell Jr. in the Atlanta secondary this season after playing his entire collegiate career at Clemson University.
The Atlanta native earned All-American honors and was named a Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist during his final season at Clemson University in 2025. Across 39 appearances and 31 starts from 2023-25, he totaled 128 tackles, 30 pass breakups, three interceptions, four sacks, eight forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries for the Tigers.
According to NFL.com Draft Analyst Lance Zierlein, he believes“Terrell is an athletic, fluid mover with clean transitions and enough speed to stay in phase on most vertical routes. He’s most effective in press-man coverage, where he mirrors releases with timing and discipline, staying crowded to the route.”
His official NFL draft player page described his strengths as a player who could bring a versatile skill set to the Atlanta Falcons secondary, showing the athleticism and balance to line up both inside and outside while consistently staying in phase with receivers in coverage. His aggressive play style stands out at the catch point and in run support, using quick closing speed and physicality to force eight fumbles during his collegiate career.
The former Tigers defender will wear jersey number 12 for the Falcons, and according to OverTheCap.com, his signed rookie deal is $10.4 million total that will go through the 2029 season.
With the signing of Terrell and Defensive lineman Anterio Thompson, all six players in the Falcons 2026 draft class have now been signed for the upcoming year.
