The Atlanta Falcons have gotten a deal done many expected throughout the offseason, signing running back Bijan Robinson to a contract extension which will make him the highest-paid back in NFL history.

Robinson signed a three-year extension which is worth up to $75 million including a record $51 million guaranteed and $37 million at signing. While there was no real fear that a deal would get done, Robinson had been holding in and not practicing to start training camp, and fans can now breathe a sigh of relief with their best player back in the fold.

Through three seasons, Robinson has 805 carries for more than 3,900 rushing yards along with 198 catches for another 1,738 yards and 34 total touchdowns. He was named a first team All Pro for the 2025 season after a brilliant campaign in which the offense completely revolved around him.

Robinson becoming the highest paid back in the league and in league history was more of a when than an if with the way the salary cap has continued to go up. Saquon Barkley was making around $21 million per year, and now Robinson eclipses that ahead of what could be his best season yet.

While $25 million annually -- not to mention $75 million per year for their offensive trio of Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts -- is a little bit tough to stomach, it's the cost of doing business in today's NFL. Atlanta placed an emphasis this offseason on retaining this offensive core, and signing Robinson was the final piece of the puzzle to make that happen.

Since his arrival, head coach Kevin Stefanski has done nothing but praise Robinson, his work ethic and drive to be the best not to mention the impact he can have on this offense. Now, Stefanski gets his star back on the practice field and getting ready for the season in which he will once again be a huge part of the offense.

Moving forward, Robinson will continue to be the do-it-all type weapon out of the backfield who is elite once he gets the ball in his hands whether it's on the ground or through the air. If Stefanski can find a way to take him to the next level while keeping him fresh throughout the season, it could mean some huge things for this offense.

The Falcons core is not going anywhere, and now that Atlanta has committed to them, it's time for them to hold up their end of the bargain as well.
