The Atlanta Falcons head coach is not sweating it yet.

The Atlanta Falcons are just a few weeks away from the start of the year, playing their second preseason game on Saturday afternoon against the Indianapolis Colts without the starters on the field.

In the first preseason game, the first team offense did not look effective in limited action, with the results in practice so far being a little bit more mixed depending on the day. The quarterback situation remains at the top of mind for everyone, and after Tua Tagovailoa's struggles in the preseason opener, folks are ready to rush Michael Penix Jr. back on the field.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski does not see things that way though, instead saying he is not in a rush to name a week one starter and is comfortable with what the team has done so far offensively.

Stefanski in No Rush to Name Starting Quarterback

"You put thought into it, but also, those decisions and those type of things, we'll cross that bridge when we get there," Stefanski said via Marc Raimondi of ESPN. "But in the meantime, feel very, very comfortable with what we've done to date. Feel really comfortable with the guys, the work they put in."

Stefanski said Tagovailoa performed well in joint practices with the Colts despite at least one day that was very much sluggish for the offense. Pointing to issues with protection as well as needing to get the ball out a little bit quicker to aid with any sort of turnover along the offensive line.

While he either has not made a decision or is not ready to make it public yet, time is running out on Penix to even have a chance to be out there for week one. Even if the head coach is behind closed doors panicked about the quarterback situation, he would not express it to the media, which is probably the way to go.

Ultimately, Atlanta clearly has a ways to go and not a lot of time to do it if they want to get to a spot where they are feeling extremely positive about the offensive operation away from a microphone.

One way or another, the clock is ticking and fans would like to see more than they have to this point. Whether it's Tagovailoa or Penix, efficient play will be needed from the quarterback spot to get where they want to go, and time will tell if that is possible.
