Falcons Stars Share Hilarious Story of Near Number Swap After Being Drafted
Sep 5, 2026 5:00 PM

The Atlanta Falcons' two biggest stars are very close.

The Atlanta Falcons are a week away from getting started with the Kevin Stefanski era and the Week 1 showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Stefanski inherits a team that is not your every day roster rebuild and actually has some stars on it who should have them ready to compete early.

Playoffs are the hope and the expectation from this team and that starts in 2026. If that's going to happen though, offensive stars who the Falcons invested in this offseason in Drake London and Bijan Robinson are going to have to have their best season yet in this league.

The dynamic duo provided some fascinating insight of their first days being teammates during a recent appearance with Jordan Schultz, and London actually nearly gave up his iconic No. 5 for Robinson after the tail back donned it in college at the University of Texas.

London Almost Gave Robinson No. 5 After He Was Drafted

Robinson said he texted London to try to get the number off him after he was drafted, and London revealed he actually did consider it if he was able to secure No. 15 to switch to. Unfortunately, the red tape that comes with changing numbers including jersey revenue from sales that were already made with him wearing No. 5.

Fascinatingly, London wanted No. 2 when he was first drafted, but of course that belonged at the time to now President of Football Matt Ryan. Ultimately, while the number swap did not work out, it seems like London and Robinson are very close and great teammates to have even considered it.

These are two guys who are now the undisputed faces of the franchise as quarterback continues to work itself out, so them getting along is great for the locker room and a strong indicator of cohesion among the most important players on the team.

They are also both players who tend to lead by example and be willing to work harder than everyone in their path with selflessness and a drive to be the best.

If everyone on the team can take a similar mindset to London and Robinson in the coming years as the roster rebuild continues, the foundation of a culture led by them as well as Kevin Stefanski could lead to a whole lot more winning in Atlanta very soon.

Fans cannot wait to watch both of these guys this year, and it won't be long before they get to.
