The Atlanta Falcons may be trying a couple of different things this year.
The Atlanta Falcons are just a couple of weeks from kicking off a new era for the franchise, with the hope that Kevin Stefanski can come in and elevate this team back to the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade.
Ultimately, there just has not been enough winning in Atlanta, and Stefanski's arrival dramatically raises what the floor should be for this team yearly. One of the reasons for that is the roster he inherits, one that has some real stars and is not your typical rebuild when it comes to a new coach taking over.
There is no star bigger than running back Bijan Robinson though, arguably the best in all of football and certainly one of the most versatile. Very few have the rushing and pass catching combination that Robinson possesses, and it sounds like his new coaching staff is already cooking up some different types of ideas for him to get the ball.
Robinson Excited About Variation in Screen Game This Year
"A couple new screens," Robinson said via Will McFadden of Falcons.com when asked about what kind of new ways his offensive staff including offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and offensive line coach Bill Callahan are cooking up to get him involved in the passing game.
"We've been doing the same kind of screen the past year, which has been effective. I love us having to add more screens, and screens that can go across the play. There are just so many things that we can do with that scheme."
Getting even more creative with how Robinson is used is something which should have Falcons fans absolutely giddy about the possibilities for this offense. Now that he's been paid like one, the former Texas standout is hungry to prove why he should be considered the best in all of football, and it would be foolish to bet against him.
Robinson's presence was one of the biggest things that drew Stefanski to this job, and now that he gets the chance to coach him every day, he is certainly going to take advantage. It seems like Atlanta has the right minds in place on the coaching staff, and Robinson is certainly the right player on the field to carry this offense once again.
If the new staff really can refresh and revolutionize the Falcons screen game, Robinson is due for an absolutely massive year which could be his best season yet.
