The Atlanta Falcons brought Kevin Stefanski in for one main reason.

The Atlanta Falcons are headed into the regular season looking to compete to win the NFC South, and they are doing it with a new head coach in Kevin Stefanski who arrives to much fanfare.

Over the last decade, it's been a turbulent era for the Atlanta franchise where there has not been nearly as much success as they would have hoped for. While there still seem to be issues, it will not take a ton to get this place where it needs to be, and that's why Stefanski is here.

The floor under the veteran head coach feels a whole lot higher than it's been, and most importantly is the level of overall competence. After a roller coaster decade though, the biggest word to describe what he brings to the Falcons is stability. During an episode of The Steakhouse on 92.9 The Game, Steak Shapiro talked about this while predicting Stefanski to be around for the long haul.

Stefanski's Stability Will Keep Him Around

"I think he's going to be here for a while," Shapiro said. "I feel like there is a structure within the organization now that is much more stable. Matt Ryan, Ian Cunningham...Arthur Blank put Matt Ryan in place so he could stop firing coaches after two and three years."

Stability feels like exactly what this team needs, and while they simply must figure out the quarterback situation, Stefanski being here gives them a great chance to do just that. Atlanta cannot afford to keep swapping out coaches after brief stints and failures, and it does not feel like they have any intention of giving Stefanski a short leash.

That does not mean he doesn't have to win, but he will likely be given every chance to do just that before the Falcons decide to move on from him. This means that even if there is not early success given quarterback uncertainty in 2026, Stefanski will have a clean slate next year and the opportunity to identify then go get the best guy to run his system.

Atlanta still has a tough road ahead to get back to the postseason and legitimate contention in the NFC, but given the pieces they already have in place on the roster, it looks like they hired the right coach to make that happen. Time will tell if Stefanski is able to change the culture here and bring the Falcons back to where they belong.
