The Atlanta Falcons have an interesting quarterback room.
The Atlanta Falcons head into the 2026 season looking to right the wrongs of the last 10 years and really the entire existence of the franchise in terms of being a winning football team.
Kevin Stefanski was brought in to do one thing: get this team back to the playoffs where they can hopefully make a real run at their first Super Bowl. In order to do that though, he is going to have to get the most out of this roster, and this starts at the quarterback position.
The battle between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa will be the story of camp, but let's take a room at the whole at all four guys who fans can look forward to seeing reps from.
Michael Penix Jr., QB1 Candidate
Until Tagovailoa is officially named the starter, Penix is still the fanbase's choice to lead the franchise and who they will be most excited to see. Assuming he's healthy, expect the crowd to go absolutely wild to see Penix on the field completing passes in Flowery Branch.
It remains to be seen whether he will keep the job or not, but he is undeniably the top threat to the next name on the list.
Tua Tagovailoa, QB1 Candidate
When Atlanta first signed Tagovailoa, it was assumed it was going to be as the backup, but with Penix still on the sidelines, the team actually getting on the field has made it more and more realistic that he can win this job. A serious case can be made that he enters camp as the favorite to be the Week 1 starter depending on Penix's knee.
It should be a very close battle all the way through camp, and ultimately it is very likely that both of these guys wind up making starts in 2026 for one reason or another.
Trevor Siemian, QB3
While Stefanski may have his own way of doing things, Atlanta has typically carried three quarterbacks, and with the health risks of both guys in front of him, keeping Siemian around would make a whole lot of sense. An experienced veteran who has played in a lot of NFL games, having Siemian in the building helps the overall strength of the room.
Jack Strand, QB4
Signed as an undrafted free agent after playing college football for the Minnesota State–Moorhead Dragons, Strand is likely no more than just a camp body and has almost no chance to actually make the roster, though practice squad could be a possibility.
Should he come into camp and blow the staff away however, perhaps it's not absurd to think he could beat out Siemian for the third string role, it just seems unlikely given Siemian's experience.
Regardless, clearly the Falcons like something here and if he shows out in camp, they will try to keep him around the building on the practice squad.
