Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen recently made an appearance on The Peter Schrager Hour and was asked to share a story about Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Coen worked with Mayfield twice, once in 2022 with the Los Angeles Rams and in 2024 as the Bucs' offensive coordinator.
“Baker’s just a dog,” Coen told Schrager. “That word gets thrown around very loosely in our profession and he’s a real one. Like, when they talk about a ‘G’, he’s a ‘G’."
In their full year together in Tampa Bay, Mayfield threw for a career-high 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns in leading the Buccaneers to a fourth straight NFC South title.
Mayfield’s success under Coen helped springboard Coen to the head-coaching position with the Jaguars, where he won 13 games and the AFC South title in his first season.
