The Jacksonville Jaguars were able to quickly find an experienced replacement for their injured Pro Bowl long snapper, Ross Matiscik.

It looks like the DaVon Hamilton long-snapping show has been canceled after the pilot show.

Hamilton, who was forced into emergency long-snapping duties in Sunday’s nail-biting last-second win over the Philadelphia Eagles, can now return all of his focus to his real position, defensive tackle.

On Monday, per Ian Rapoport, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran LS Jacob Bobenmoyer, who will take over for the injured Ross Matiscik.

There was also good news on Matiscik’s shoulder injury. Rapoport reports that the injury to Matiscik is not considered long-term, and the three-time Pro Bowler will not require a stint on injured reserve.

Hamilton Saved The Day

Matiscik was injured early in Jacksonville’s win over the Eagles in London on Sunday, and his absence forced the Jaguars to adapt on the fly.

The 6’4, 335- pound Hamilton has been the team’s emergency long snapper and had to take over for the rest of the game.

Hamilton’s ability to get the job done completed saved the day for the Jaguars. His snaps on punts were perfect. While his snaps on extra points and field goals were consistently high, including one that led to a missed extra point. However, Hamilton was able to deliver a good snap on Cam Little’s game-winning 57-yard field goal as time expired.

Everyone in the Jaguars organization showered Hamilton with praise for being able to step up after Matiscik’s injury and specifically credited his efforts as one of the primary reasons the team was able to grind out a tough victory.

With the signing of Bobenmoyer, Hamilton can now return to his top priority of making the Jacksonville defense impossible to run on.

The Jaguars held the Eagles to only 22 rushing yards on 18 attempts, an incredible 1.2 yards per carry. Last week against the Bengals, Jacksonville only allowed 23 rushing yards on 15 carries, a 1.5 YPC average.

Who Is Jacob Bobenmoyer?

In Bobenmoyer, the Jaguars are getting a long snapper with 97 games of NFL experience.

He spent the first three seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos after going undrafted in 2019, appearing in 46 games.

Bobenmoyer was injured in 2022, but joined the Las Vegas Raiders and played in 51 games from 2023 to 2025.

He then had a tryout this past offseason with the Pittsburgh Steelers and has now found a job with the Jaguars and has already joined the team in London, where Jacksonville will take on division rival Houston Texans in Week 6.

Final Thoughts

The Jaguars acted quickly to find a replacement for Matiscik.

Bobenmoyer brings lots of experience to the table and should fill in admirably while Matiscik is out.

Luckily, Matiscik is not expected to miss too much time. He is arguably the best long snapper in the NFL, and his importance to the team was in full focus on Sunday.
