Jacksonville must take advantage of playing an Eagles team who comes into London incredibly shorthanded. What must the Jaguars do to earn a victory? Zzz

The Jacksonville Jaguars have an excellent opportunity to add another win over a strong opponent to their resume when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in London.

The Eagles are limping into Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a wounded team and will be without several top players, especially on offense, where superstar running back Saquon Barkley and star receiver DeVonta Smith are both out with hamstring injuries.

The Jaguars must take advantage of a shorthanded Eagles team that suffered a heartbreaking loss last week against the Los Angeles Rams after blowing a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter.

Let’s check out my five keys to a Jaguars’ victory that would send Jacksonville to 4-1 and help them seize control of the AFC South before playing their first division game next week against the Houston Texans.

Five Keys To Victory

1. Pounce on the Eagles early: The best way to ensure a victory against a wounded opponent is to start strong.

Jacksonville’s defense has been among the league’s best this season, and the Eagles’ offense has struggled, even before the injuries to Barkley and Smith.

The Jaguars’ offense has been humming along as advertised and is as potent as any in the NFL.

If the Jaguars can jump out to an early lead, especially by more than one score, the Eagles may become dejected and realize they are in for a long day.

2. Defensive line must dominate: Philadelphia’s offensive line is in shambles after Tuesday’s shocking retirement of star RT Lane Johnson and Wednesday’s trade of two-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens, who had already moved to left guard after Landon Dickerson was placed on IR.

Not only must the defensive line make life miserable for QB Jalen Hurts, but it must suffocate the Eagles’ rushing attack, which will be without Barkley and his backup, Tank Bigsby.

Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker should have a field day on Sunday. If they do, the Jaguars should earn a convincing win.

3. Feed Bhayshul Tuten: Jacksonville’s top running back has been outstanding in his new role as RB1. Tuten is PFF’s second-highest-graded. RB through four weeks, and has made doubts about whether he could succeed as Travis Etienne’s replacement look foolish.

Philly’s run defense has struggled so far, allowing 122 yards per game. Jacksonville must take advantage and commit to running the ball early and often.

With the way QB Trevor Lawrence is playing, early success running the ball should open up opportunities for Lawrence to pick his spots. He has had incredible success pushing the ball downfield, and a heavy dose of Tuten will help that continue.

4. Get Brian Thomas Jr. going: Thomas has not had the bounce-back season many expected thus far, but he did get his first touchdown of the year last week at Cincinnati.

Even though he had only two catches for 17 yards, head coach Liam Coen praised Thomas’ performance. Hopefully, he can build on that outing with a strong showing against a strong Philadelphia secondary. Thomas is oozing with talent, and the Jaguars must find a way to unleash it as the season progresses.

5. Continue forcing turnovers: Turnovers are the calling card of Anthony Campanile’s defense. After getting 31 takeaways last season, Jacksonville has forced eight in four games this season.

The Eagles’ offense is already struggling and missing its top three players (Barkley, Smith, and Johnson). If the Jaguars take the ball away multiple times, it could be the kiss of death for a weakened offense.
