Jacksonville Jaguars fans have been waiting a long time to see a fully healthy, fully motivated Travon Walker. Minicamp suggests that the wait might finally be over.
The Jacksonville Jaguars entered the offseason with one clear expectation for Travon Walker: dominate.
Head coach Liam Coen had laid that out during a nearly two-hour end-of-season meeting with his defensive end. Two days into mandatory minicamp at the Miller Electric Center, Walker is doing exactly that.
"Travon Walker showed up in a big way, especially when we got into some competitive situations. Doing what I challenged him with, which was to dominate. Through the first two days of mini-camp, he didn't lose many reps. So, I think we got better," Liam Coen said, via ActionSportsJax.
For a player coming off an injury-riddled 2025 season, this kind of praise from his head coach this early in camp is an encouraging sign for Jaguars fans heading into 2026.
The Standard Coen Set for Walker This Offseason
Speaking at the NFL owners meetings in April, Coen revealed he had a nearly two-hour meeting with Walker at the end of the season.
He used Aaron Donald as the standard, saying he wants the kind of pass rush destruction that forces an offense to remove him from practice reps just to get anything going. Walker, it seems, took notes.
That context matters when you look at what Walker went through in 2025.
He logged just 3.5 sacks, matching his rookie-year output, after back-to-back double-digit sack seasons in 2023 and 2024.
The drop-off was largely injury-driven. He played through a left wrist injury and a knee injury for most of the year, sitting out just three games despite not being close to full health. Heading into 2026, he is reportedly closer to 100 percent.
Jacksonville Bet Big on Walker This Offseason
The Jaguars didn't just back Walker with words. They signed him to a four-year, $110 million extension in April, with $77 million guaranteed and $50 million fully guaranteed at signing.
The deal makes him the 12th-highest-paid edge rusher in the league, sitting just behind teammate Josh Hines-Allen.
They also bolstered the interior defensive line around him, trading for Ruke Orhorhoro and adding Albert Regis in the third round. More interior pressure means better one-on-one matchups for Walker on the edge, something he never really had last season.
This is not a player who needs to be convinced to work. Walker has 27.5 career sacks, 200 tackles and 57 quarterback hits across 63 games in Jacksonville.
