The Jacksonville stars are chasing Myles Garrett’s sack record to surpass the league’s elite pass-rushing pairs and make a claim as the NFL’s most dominant defensive tandem.

Being part of "one of the best" pass-rushing duos isn't enough for Josh Hines-Allen.

Hines-Allen believes that he and his running mate on the Jacksonville Jaguars, Travon Walker, have both the talent and drive to become the NFL's absolute best pass-rushing duo.

"Looking at him, he wants to be the best. I want to be the best. Let's become the best duo," was the message Hines-Allen had for Walker when describing their mindsets. He then started talking about how duos are the hottest thing in the NFL right now.

"The duo this. The duo that," the star edge rusher continued, "if that's what they're talking about, then let's be a part of that conversation. Let's solidify ourselves as the best duo."

Who Are The NFL's Best Sack Duos?

The NFL has several teams that boast a great duo of sack artists. Hines-Allen and Walker have proven they are near the top of the list, but want to be more than just close.

To be the undisputed best duo, they must surpass the brand-new Los Angeles Rams' pairing of the newly acquired Myles Garrett and Byron Young. Garrett, fresh off setting the NFL's single-season sack record with 23, is the best pass-rusher in the league. Young, who has 27.5 career sacks in his three seasons (including 12 last year), should benefit greatly from all the attention Garrett will command. Those two will cause nightmares for quarterbacks and offensive coordinators.

There is the pairing of Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter from the Houston Texans, who figure to be the Jaguars' toughest obstacle to overcome to repeat as division champs. Before Garrett landed with the Rams, the combination of Hunter and Anderson Jr. was the league's best, combining for a whopping 50 sacks in their two years as teammates.

T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith of the Pittsburgh Steelers are also near the top of the list. Joining them is the duo of Abdul Carter and Brian Burns from the New York Giants.

It's evident that Hines-Allen and Walker will both have to bring their A-games in order to become kings of that hill.

Hines-Allen Confident They Can Be The Best

Hines-Allen was confident that he and Walker can become the best if they both play to the best of their abilities.

"These are the expectations that we have for each other...Tray wants to break my record. I want to beat my record. I wanna get Myles Garrett's record. Obviously, if we can both achieve those things, obviously we'll become the best duo," JHA proclaimed.

Hines-Allen has the Jaguars' sack record with 17.5 during the 2023 season. That is the number both he and Walker will look to eclipse this season.

Final Thoughts

It will be difficult for the Jaguars' duo to leapfrog either Garrett and Young in LA or Hunter and Anderson Jr. in Houston, but the pairing of Hines-Allen and Walker is absolutely one of the best in the NFL.

JHA has established himself as one of the very best at getting to the quarterback. Walker was on an upward trajectory, notching double-digit sacks in both 2023 and 2024 before being slowed by injuries last season.

If both players can stay healthy throughout the season, I think it is realistic to hope for a combined 30 sacks between the two, with 27 a more achievable number.

Where that will rank among pass-rushing duos remains to be seen, but it definitely won't be too far from the top.
