The Jacksonville Jaguars (7-4) visit the Tennessee Titans (1-10) at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Sunday afternoon for an inter division matchup. At first glance, it may look like a second straight road win for the Jaguars, coming off a 27-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
With the Jaguars 3-2 in road games this season and still in contention for the AFC South crown, this is a game the Jaguars cannot look past.
The Jaguars host the first-place Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Dec. 7.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Jaguars (-6.5, -110) are solid road point-spread favorites and a hefty -295 on the Money line, while the Titans (-6.5, -110), back home and looking to snap a six losing-streak, are +240.
But keep in mind, especially if you're an NFL bettor: The Jaguars, who will playing their third road game in the last four weeks, needed overtime to get by the below-average Cardinals, thanks in part to another uneven, turnover-riddled performance by QB Trevor Lawrence. Despite throwing for 256 yards on 18-of-30 passes, he still had three interceptions, including one to start the third quarter.
Lawrence also had a fumble returned for a touchdown.
Tight end Brenton Strange, back from a quad injury after missing five games, had four receptions for 81 yards, in addition to making his presence felt along the offensive line with solid blocking.
The Jaguars defense also got had by Arizona QB Jacoby Brissett for much of the half, a big reason why Jacksonville trailed 14-10 at the half - with the Cardinals missing a field goal attempt late in the second quarter.
Despite the comeback, the Jaguars, playing without Travon Walker (knee), were beaten repeatedly in the secondary, namely late in regulation. So, more consistent play on defense would go a way in making the Jaguars a serious threat in the AFC - come early-January.
Dennis Gardeck did record two sacks against his former team.
Here is an early-week betting nugget on Jaguars vs. Texans:
Jacksonville is 6-4-1 against the spread, including 2-2-1 on the road.
But with a huge home date vs. the Colts looming, you would be wise to use good judgment in wanting to lay close to a touchdown and/or almost 3/1 on the Money line with the Jaguars.
