The Jacksonville Jaguars had a resounding victory over the Indianapolis Colts, 36-19, meaning they are alone at the top of the AFC South with a 9-4 record.
The biggest news coming out of this game was the injury to Colts quarterback Daniel Jones, who, upon information and belief, suffered a torn Achilles tendon during the first half of the game and is most likely out for the season.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne both had big games. Lawrence threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns, and Etienne rushed for two scores as well.
The Jaguars have defeated the Colts 11 straight years in Jacksonville.
Fans took to social media to express their excitement over the team’s huge win.
“Funny how the media is no longer showing the Colts owner after they are having a historic collapse and get smacked by the JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS “
“I think this assessment isn’t talked about enough. The jags learned that the wristband can be used and not relied on. Then adding a professional over the middle receiver. Offense has bite. Has rhythm. Has image. And the 904 is 9-4.”
“Didn’t anticipate the Jags unleashing their passing game in nasty weather but TLaw showed he and the receivers can do it and do it well. Great win. It’s been 4,102 since the Colts last won in Jacksonville. #duuuval Go Jags!”
While Jaguar fans were celebrating their victory, Colts fans were seeing their season implode in front of their eyes after getting off to a hot start.
"Embarrassing performance. Colts get destroyed and lose again in Jacksonville for the 11th year in a row. Daniel Jones blows his achilles, Colts turn it over 3 times, and allow many big plays to the Jags offense. This season was looking promising at 7-1 and they are now imploding.”
“Another L in Jacksonville, I’m at a loss for words man. Most of our key guys going down, and we are straight up ice cold. Now gotta fight just for that wild card spot. Unbelievable.”
The path for the Jaguars may have gotten even easier with Jones going down and them having to play the Colts without him in a few weeks, along with facing the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos.
The road to the AFC Championship may go through Jacksonville if the Jags take care of business like they did Sunday afternoon.
