Maurice Banks, Zach Banner, and Tyshon Fogg join the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, gaining hands-on NFL experience during Jacksonville’s OTAs and offseason workout programs.
As part of the Bill Wash Diversity Coaching Fellowship Program, the Jacksonville Jaguars brought in three new coaches to the staff on Tuesday, according to an official press release.
Maurice Banks, Zach Banner, and Tyshon Fogg will have the opportunity to observe the Jaguars' offseason initiative, gathering valuable work experience.
According to the program's official website, it's objective is to "use NFL clubs’ training camps, offseason workout programs and minicamps to give talented coaches opportunities to: observe, participate, gain experience, [and] ultimately gain a full-time NFL coaching position."
To be considered for the opportunity, applicants must have either played in the NFL or had coaching experience at either the high school, college, or other professional leagues level (CFL, UFL).
Banks began his coaching career internationally, roaming the sidelines of fields in Italy, Germany, and Brazil.
After moving to the U.S., Banks coached for Georgetown, Penn, Gettysburg College and Towson, experimenting in multiple different positions.
As a player, Banks was a two-time All-Patriot League defensive back with Georgetown, playing professional football overseas.
At Gettysburg, Banks served as head coach, leading 12 players to all-league honors.
Most recently, Burks became the Tigers' inaugural Chief of Staff, joining Towson earlier this year.
Fogg, who played at Rutgers from 2017-2021, is nearing his first season as linebackers coach and run game coordinator at New Hampshire.
In 2022, Fogg got his first taste of NFL operations by trying out for the Miami Dolphins before returning to college as part of Syracuse's defensive support staff.
Fogg spent time with nearly every position group, coaching up the secondary, linebackers, and edge rushers during his three-year tenure with the Orange.
Now, Fogg takes on a larger role with New Hampshire, looking to help the Wildcats build on an eight-win season.
Banner is the lone addition taking the former player route, joining the Jaguars' offseason program as a former NFL offensive lineman.
A former fourth round selection, Banner spent time with the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers from (2017-2021), making 30 career appearances and two starts.
Current Jacksonville offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett is familiar with Banner, coaching the former standout USC All-American during their time with the Steelers.
In college, Banner was a dominant force for the Trojans, leaving USC as a two-time All-American and First-Team All-Pac 12.
With OTAs kicking off this week, Banner, Fogg, and Banks will be exposed to the cadence and operations of NFL practices, gaining invaluable familiarity.
