The NFL fan universe is serious when it comes to representing their favorite teams by wearing official team jerseys. Money that could be spent paying the light bill or to buy groceries for the week is being spent on the team jerseys of their favorite player on their favorite team.
With marketing and licensing agreements, the cost of these jerseys continues to skyrocket as the teams find consistent success on the field and as players become stars and, especially, if they endure.
In a recent graphic posted on Instagram by Front Office Sports, the Jaguars top the list of the most expensive team jerseys on the market, weighing in at a robust average price of $167.99. Of course, that is the average price across all 32 NFL teams. The actual retail price for some team jerseys can run even higher.
Supply and demand determine the price and availability of a product. As the supply exceeds demand, prices will fall. When the demand for a product rises and exceeds the supply, the price also rises. It is the classic transaction between a seller and a buyer.
One explanation of the high price could be the popularity and the development of quarterback Trevor Lawrence at the pro level. Lawrence was a 4,000-yard passer in 2025; the third time in five years he has eclipsed the 4,000-yard mark. Also, Lawrence is ranked among the Top 50 Player Sales List, according to the NFLPA (#43 on that list).
Among the top-10 most expensive jerseys, five teams have won at least one Super Bowl:
· (#2) Giants = $158.85
· (#6) Steelers = $152.25
· (#8) Saints = $148.27
· (#9) Eagles = $147.99
· (#10) Ravens = $145.77
By comparison, the Giants jersey is only $9 cheaper than the Jaguars.
The Jaguars produced one of the biggest turnarounds in recent NFL memory. In 2024 under former coach Doug Pederson, the Jaguars ranked near the bottom of the league in points scored and points allowed on their way to a dismal 4-13 record. As a result, Pederson was fired and Liam Coen was hired to take the team to the next level.
To do that, the Jaguars drafted two-way player from Colorado, Travis Hunter. He was a modern-day Jim Thorpe of college football, playing both offense and defense for the Buffaloes. Hunter also took home the Heisman Trophy, the Bednarik Award as the top defensive player in college football, and the Biletnikoff Award as college football’s top receiver in 2024. As an NFL rookie last season, Hunter’s team jersey cost fans between $130 and $175.
For another comparison, take a look at, believe it or not, the Cleveland Browns. Their team jersey ranks No. 7 on the list of priciest, $151.23 on average.
A perennial loser, the Browns drafted Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fifth-round last season, who was Hunter’s teammate with the Buffaloes. The son of Deion Sanders, the young Sanders jersey is the top-selling jersey among all rookies from the 2025 draft class. The polarizing Sanders and his popularity could be driving the high price.
Last season, Coen built the Jaguars in his own image, a team that could score points (27 points per game) and shut down opposing offenses (19 points allowed). They ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in both categories.
The Jaguars improved their win total by nine games from the 2024 season and finished the 2025 campaign with a 13-4 record and became a playoff team under Cohen. Because of this tremendous turnaround, Coen was a finalist for NFL Coach of the Year honors, getting the second-most votes and points behind COY winner Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots.
The success that Coen and the Jaguars sustained last season has laid the foundation to continue building and producing a winning product on the field. That has Jaguars fans excited for the future and opening their wallets to buy team gear to represent on Sundays.
