Jaguars head to Arizona, but key absences and injuries to big-time starters could complicate Jacksonville's recent surge.

State Farm Stadium doesn't sound like a tough place to compete, especially when you consider the low bar set by the latest cycle of State Farm ads.

Hosted by Jake from State Farm, the newest campaign features a series of cornball set-ups comparing "King Henrys" (Derrick vs. Henry VIII), "captains" (Detroit's Aidan Hutchinson vs. an old-timey, ahoy-ing sea captain), "guards" (the Chiefs' Trey Smith vs. a dweeby crossing guard), and "trainers" (with Patrick Mahomes waiting for his team's guy vs. a super annoying Megan Trainor, who seems to be wearing a cheesy pink lampshade as a skirt).

But when the Jacksonville Jaguars land in Glendale, Arizona, it's unlikely they'll be met with anything so banal.

The Arizona Cardinals have lost nine games in a row. They've been reeling following the injury to/benching of QB Kyler Murray, the 2019 Heisman winner and the former No. 1 pick out of Texas A&M. With Murray still on injured reserve and Jacoby Brissett (again) having turned back into a pumpkin after midnight, it would be understandable to view as favorable the Jags' odds of winning this Sunday.

Jacksonville (6-4), currently second in the AFC South, has a series of promising matchups over the next several weeks – visiting the Cards (3-7) this week; then heading to the Tennessee Titans (1-9); hosting the Indianapolis Colts (8-2) on Dec. 7; then, on Dec. 14, hosting the lowly New York Jets, now 2-8 and about to start yet another iffy QB. The Jags wrap up the regular season in Denver, then in Indy, and finally at home against the Titans.

Not a bad stretch for a team that lately has been bucking expectations.

Jacksonville will look to keep lit an offense that fired off 35 points against what was supposed to be the Los Angeles Chargers' top 10-ranked defense, and holding a fairly potent Chargers offense to a season-low six points. The Chargers-Jags was one of the most fun – and surprising – games of Week 10.

The Cardinals haven't won at home since Sept. 14, against the Carolina Panthers.

The Jaguars, through Week 11, have fielded the 19th-ranked offense in the league, amassing just over 199 yards per game passing. But their running attack – currently the 8th best in the NFL, with 127.5 yards per game – has kept this team afloat, along with stout play from their 14th-ranked defense.

But injuries could scotch the odds for Jacksonville, as running backs Travis Etienne (shoulder) and Bhayshyl Tuten (ankle) have been limited in practice this week. Also going through the motions as they deal with injuries are TE Brenton Strange (questionable for Sunday), a couple of key offensive linemen, and six defensive playmakers (three of them cornerbacks).

Ruled out versus the Cards are tight end Hunter Long, WR Brian Thomas Jr., right tackle Anton Harrison, and DE Travon Walker.

Come to think of it, the Jaguars might be able to use some insurance coverage this week.
