Jacksonville Jaguars secure Anton Harrison through 2027, prioritizing offensive line continuity and a solid starter at right tackle.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will exercise their fifth-year option of Anton Harrison's rookie contract, the Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran reported Monday.
The move keeps the fourth-year right tackle in the fold in Jacksonville through 2027 and reinforces general manager James Gladstone's insistence in January it was "a necessity" for the Jaguars to keep their entire offensive line from 2025 intact.
"The continuity at that position group in particular is one that makes more sense than any other," Gladstone said.
A first-round draft pick (27th overall) in 2023 out of Oklahoma, Harrison is heading into the final year of his four-year, fully guaranteed $13.2 million rookie contract. The added option year will also be fully guaranteed, with Harrison earning an estimated $19 million, according to multiple reports.
Locking up Harrison now also gets the process of extending him beyond 2027 underway. Gladstone said Monday, "As a part of that, we’ll have deeper conversations," O'Halloran reported.
Harrison has started at right tackle in 48 games for the Jaguars. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Washington, D.C. native started 15 games in 2025, missing games and starts because of illness and injuries (elbow, ankle and knee).
In addition to center Robert Hainsey, Harrison was one of the most consistently present players on Jacksonville's mix-and-match line last season, when the team had an astonishing turnaround, finishing 13-4 and earning the AFC South title, after winning only four games in 2024.
Behind the Jags' 2025 o-line, quarterback Trevor Lawrence had the best year of his career. After missing half of the 2024 season to injury, Lawrence finished 2025 with 4,007 passing yards, a 60.9-percent completion rate, 29 passing touchdowns against 11 interceptions. His 82 carries for 459 yards and nine rushing TDs showed both his and his line's versatility -- and earned Lawrence MVP looks throughout the second half of the season.
Harrison was one of the most dependable players of a oft-injured, thus constantly shifting offensive line in 2025. Starting left tackle Walker Little was sidelined for three games last season with a concussion; when Walker returned to the field, Cole Van Lanen had taken his place as the starter at his position.
A second-round pick in 2021 out of Stanford, Little signed a three-year, $40.5 million extension with the Jaguars in December 2024.
Van Lanen, who was traded to Jacksonville in 2022, filled in across the offensive line, starting several games last year at right guard in place of an injured Patrick Mekari, who missed three games to a concussion and lingering back issues. Van Lanen started at every position on the line last season, except at center, and started at blindside tackle for the last five games of the regular season. (A knee injury kept Van Lanen sidelined for the Jaguars' AFC wild-card loss on Jan. 11 against the Buffalo Bills.)
The team extended Van Lanen in January with a three-year, $51 million contract.
While Harrison was a stalwart at right tackle, the Jaguars' offensive line saw eight players starting at various positions last season.
Offensive coordinator Grant Udinski said it's a luxury for him and offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett to have such depth with the offensive line.
"And not only to have that depth, to have that cohesion in the room, where the guys who can start -- you’ve got eight guys, sometimes seven guys -- you can still feel good about starting five no matter what the mix and match is."
