Fueling a formidable pass rush through playful trash talk and mutual respect, Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen push each other toward dominance while anchoring Jacksonville's expensive defensive front.

The Jacksonville Jaguars head into the 2026 season with a very formidable pair of edge rushers.

Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen both have Pro-Bowl-level talent, and they can be a nightmare for opposing offensive lines.

Walker, the top overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, was recently rewarded for his excellent play with a four-year, $110 million contract extension. His $27.5 million in average annual salary on the extension places him 12th among edge rushers, per Over the Cap, three spots behind his running mate Hines-Allen ($28.3 million).

Speaking to the media at Monday's OTA session, Walker offered some insight into their relationship.

"We Want Each Other To Be Great"

When talking about his relationship with Hines-Allen, Walker playfully admitted that the two talk trash to each other. Walker says that trash talk happens because, "We want each other to be great."

He didn't stop there. Walker told the reporters that both he and Hines-Allen hold each to a very high standard. The duo feed off of each other, and push one another to be the very best they can be on the field.

Walker also was very appreciative of the praise his teammate gave him upon learning of his contract extension. Hines-Allen

Hines-Allen Thinks Very Highly Of Walker

After Walker signed his extension, Hines-Allen talked about how happy he is to have Walker as a teammate. He showered Walker with compliments, mentioning how much Walker has grown both as a player and as a man since his arrival in 2022.

According to Hines-Allen, "the sky is the limit" when it comes to how great Walker can be. Coming from a player as accomplished as Hines-Allen, that praise shouldn't be taken lightly.

Both Have Opportunity To Grow Together

Now that both Walker and Hines-Allen are committed to Jacksonville long-term, the two have an opportunity to grow together as players. Knowing they both are rooting for one another, and also expect the other to be great, provides a bit of extra motivation.

Walker still hasn't reached his full potential, and with his teammate believing in him, expect Walker to make a significant leap in 2026. The better Walker is, the less attention defenses will be able to give to Hines-Allen, and vice-versa.

If both play at the top of their games in 2026, there is no telling how good the Jaguars' defense can be. Walker and Hines-Allen are counting on each other to be the dominant forces they can be.

They aren't just hoping for the other to be great, they are demanding it from each other.
