Rising star Grant Udinski joined elite coordinators in Orlando to network with owners, signaling his rapid ascent toward a head coaching role after transforming Jacksonville’s high-powered offense.
The NFL brought back its accelerator program for the 2026 season, and Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski participated in the two-day event on Monday and Tuesday in Orlando, Florida.
Udinski was one of 16 coaches selected to participate -- including Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniels and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
He networked with NFL teams and their owners for consideration whenever a head coaching position is available. Udinski interviewed with two organizations before receiving a contract extension with the Jaguars in January.
Jacksonville's offensive coordinator met with the Cleveland Browns, but removed his name from the running to stay with his current team. He also interviewed with the Buffalo Bills, but they promoted Joe Brady to head coach after three seasons on the coaching staff.
Executive vice president Tony Boselli said he knows Udinski -- and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile -- will become head coaches in the NFL. Still, it was of utmost priority to retain both coordinators before next season.
"Those are two guys we want to be here as long as possible, while at the same time, we know they're going to be head coaches," Boselli told Mike Dempsey and Tony Smith on 1010XL last Wednesday. "I mean, you can only keep guys like that around so long. We were hoping, and it worked out for us. It's a testament to who they are, a testament to our ownership and Shad what he allows us to invest in those guys."
Udinski helped turn the Jaguars' offense from the bottom half in the NFL to just outside the top 10. Jacksonville finished 11th in total yards per game (306.2), 12th in passing yards per game (223.2) and sixth in points per game (27.9).
He's quickly climbed the coaching ranks since starting his NFL coaching career with the Carolina Panthers in 2020.
Carolina hired Udinski as a coaching assistant for two seasons, then he spent the next three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He started as an assistant to the head coach and special projects in 2022, was elevated to assistant quarterbacks coach in 2023 and became the assistant offensive coordinator in 2024, while retaining his role in the previous year.
Jacksonville hired Udinski in 2025, alongside Campanile, Liam Coem as head coach and James Gladstone as general manager. These new hires transformed the Jaguars into an AFC South division winner and a team aspiring to reach the Super Bowl.
However, it's only a matter of time before Udinski receives interest from other teams when coaching vacancies open, and the NFL's Accelerator Program is fast-forwarding that process.
